Sunshine Stars will face six-time African champions, Al Ahly this Sunday in Cairo in a last act to decide who progress into the 2012 Caf Champions League final.

Both teams played out a 3-3 draw a fortnight ago at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode.

The Cairo Red Devils are no doubt favourites to reach the final but the Akure Gunners are not ruling themselves out.

« It will be wrong to write off ourselves from a game that hasn’t been decided just yet. We don’t dispute the fact that they are experienced campaigners on the continent compared to us making our first appearance in the (Caf) Champions League and second on the continent after last year’s attempt at the (Caf) Confederation Cup, » said Sunshine Stars’ head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote before they left for Cairo this week.

On the other hand, Ahly head coach, Hossam Al Badry will set up his team to lay siege to their opponents, who now have to attack as the 3-3 draw in the reverse game leaves them with all to do.

Al Badry also acknowledged it will not be a stroll in the park for his men against Sunshine Stars.

« I expect our opponents to attack from the start as a draw does not favour them. Sunshine (Stars) have not lost hope of reaching the final and I anticipate they will fight to the end, » said Al Badry.

The Nigerian club have their skipper, Godfrey Oboabona, back for this game after being suspended for the reverse game.

To the surprise of many, almost certainly including themselves, Barcelona head into the first Clasico of the La Liga season with the opportunity to already hammer one nail into the coffin of Real Madrid’s hopes of retaining their title.

Real had an unexpectedly poor start to their campaign after their breakthrough last term as they lost twice and drew one of their first four fixtures to drop eight points behind their great rivals. With there also being rampant speculation about the happiness of Cristiano Ronaldo and the relationship between Jose Mourinho and influential defender Sergio Ramos all did not look well in Madrid.

However, Real appear to have turned a corner. After scoring two goals in the final four minutes to come from behind and beat Manchester City in their opening Champions League encounter, Los Blancos have now won four games on the bounce. What’s more: Ronaldo has scored back-to-back hat-tricks—in a 5-1 victory over Deportivo La Coruna followed by a more impressive treble in a 4-1 win over Ajax on Wednesday.

Liverpool are starting to approach must-win territory, at least if their goal is to make a return to European competitions next season. They're already dangerously close to playing themselves well out of the race for fourth place, and are seriously in need of their first win of the season, for a confidence boost if anything else. Unfortunately, they'll struggle to get it on Sunday.

The Reds host Stoke City, masters of the draw. Former Liverpool man Peter Crouch is in excellent form, and the rest of the side should play compact and physical as always. They managed draws against Arsenal and Manchester City, and their only loss this season was away to Chelsea. All of the evidence suggests that this match will end in a draw, but maybe Liverpool will finally play up to their talent level and flip the script.

Welcome back, folks, to another round of live Champions League commentary with me, Karl Matchett, bringing you all the action from around an hour before kickoff.

Group D is almost unarguably the "Group of Death" of this season's tournament, withManchester City and Borussia Dortmund the other two sides in the frame, meaning the champions of Holland, Spain, Germany and England are all facing off against each other.

The first game week saw Real Madrid take a late victory at home over Man City, while Ajax lost 1-0 to Dortmund. A win at home will be top of the agenda for the Dutch club this evening, while Real will think they will be one big step closer to qualification if they take the points.
